You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 25

Getting down to the last 5 days now. Getting close to the end of the book. Tonight was doing more two-point perspective and drawing a castle. I embellished some with the flag and mountains and grass. Does it seem like I’m getting any better? There is one boo boo on this drawing, can you guess what it is?

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 24

Day/Lesson 24 – A Tower in Two-Point Perspective. Taking a step deeper into perspective, tonights drawing is using two perspectives on the horizon line. Pretty cool. Enjoyed this one.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 23

Continuing with the one-point perspective, today’s Lesson 23 was A City in One-Point Perspective. Like the other lesson, I enjoyed this one as well. I added a sunset and clouds to enhance the sketch. I also turned the sketch pad sideways to get a wider view.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 22

Day/Lesson 22 – A Room in One-Point Perspective. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Right angles, rulers and preciseness. The engineer in me hearkened back to shop class and drafting.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 21

Trees. when I think of Trees I think of the Rush song on the Hemispheres album. Day/Lesson 21 was Trees, or more specifically a tree.

I’m happy with the upper branches and the shading there. Not that enthused with the leaves. And the roots look like Sideshow Bob’s hair style. But I know what to fix if/when I draw this again.

Drawing for Fun

So. I went and bought a drawing tablet last weekend. At the moment I’m continuing my 30 Day Drawing with old school pencils and sketch pad, but I wanted to get some buy-in to drawing and, to be honest, was getting tired of all the eraser shavings everywhere.

So I bought a XP Pen Artist 15.6 Pro drawing tablet. Pretty cool, but a huge learning curve. Tonight I messed around after Lesson 20 and tried drawing some craters and coloring it. Kind of amoonscape. Like I said, big learning curve to get the right pencil to sketch and then the shading. Still working it out.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 20

Day/Lesson 20 – Volcanoes, Craters and a Cup Coffee. This was a fairly enjoyable draw and kept me busy for an hour. More foreshortening of circles and shading. How’d I do?

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 19

Walk like an Egyptian. This Day/Lesson 19 was The Pyramid. And shading. Cause you know… its hot in the shade, in the desert, where pyramids are. This was a fun draw, probably because I like straight lines and hard shapes more than circles and spheres. Easier shading.

This is the second of two lessons knocked out this evening, so check Day 18 for that completed lesson.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 18

Knocked out two lessons tonight, so be sure to check Day 19 as well. Day/Lesson 18 was The Scroll. Taking Lesson 17 and turning flags into scrolls. It came out ok. Getting the hang of shading.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 17

Day/Lesson 17 – Rippling Flags. Not much to say, Contouring and shading to create flags whipping in the wind.
