You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 19

Walk like an Egyptian. This Day/Lesson 19 was The Pyramid. And shading. Cause you know… its hot in the shade, in the desert, where pyramids are. This was a fun draw, probably because I like straight lines and hard shapes more than circles and spheres. Easier shading.

This is the second of two lessons knocked out this evening, so check Day 18 for that completed lesson.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 18

Knocked out two lessons tonight, so be sure to check Day 19 as well. Day/Lesson 18 was The Scroll. Taking Lesson 17 and turning flags into scrolls. It came out ok. Getting the hang of shading.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 16

Day/Lesson 16 – The Wave. Using curling contours, tonight’s lesson was to draw a wave. This brought back memories of me drawing a crashing wave (bottom right) all over my school notebooks when I lived in Puerto Rico and was into surfing. I would usually add the tip of a surfboard sticking out from the curl. That was decades ago during a simpler carefree time.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 15

Only one lesson today, Day/Lesson 15. We are at the half way point. Seeing as how it is the 16th of January, I am about one day behind where I want to be. Next weekend I should catch up.

Day/lesson 15

This lesson was CONTOUR TUBES. Learning how to draw tubes with some contouring to them. And I drew a couple of mummies to show how changing the contour rings changes the illusion of movement. I like my little characters. I may need to expand on them into a 4 panel cartoon.

Anyway I give you contoured tubes.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 13

Day/Lesson 13. Not gonna lie, this was hard. It was just simple cubes but trying to get the foreshortening perspective working was tough when combining into a simple house. I’ve got a mountain of eraser shavings from the constant re-drawing of lines to try and get the perspective correct. I don’t think I figured it out fully. This is an area I’m going to have to practice more. going to tray and get a second lesson in today (Saturday) as I work to get caught up and finish at the end of January.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 12

Lesson 12, getting into physical reality by constructing with cubes. Not the best house I could probably draw but working on it. Not really happy with the roof. And looking at it now, probably should have that interior a little darker shade.

You Can Draw in 30 Days – Day 10

1/3 of the way through this challenge/adventure. Day 10 was THE CYLINDER. Getting the basics down. Again, lots of shading to try and make things look 3D on a 2D piece of paper.

I bought a couple of Pentel mechanical pencils (.7mm lead) at the recommendation of the writer of the “You Can Draw in 30 Days” book. I’m liking using them.

Ok let’s see the results.
